Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-control and impulsive buying behavior among early adult workers. The rapid development of the digital economy has driven an increase in impulsive buying behavior, particularly among individuals in the early adulthood stage. This research employs a quantitative approach using a correlational method. The population consists of early adult workers in Bekasi City, with a total sample of 130 respondents determined through
purposive sampling technique. The instruments used were an impulsive buying scale based on cognitive and affective aspects (Verplanken & Herabadi, 2001) and a self-control scale based on breaking habits, resisting temptation, and self-discipline aspects (Tangney et al., 2004). Data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test with the assistance of SPSS version 29 software. The results show a significant negative relationship between self-control and impulsive buying, with a correlation coefficient of -0.761 and a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.01). This means that the higher an individual's self-control, the lower the tendency for impulsive buying behavior. These findings confirm that self-control is an important psychological factor in
suppressing impulsive buying behavior among early adult workers.
