The Role of Forensic Psychology in Criminal Offenders with Schizophrenia
A Comprehensive Analysis of Psychological Interventions and Legal Considerations

Abstract
Schizophrenia is a mental disorder with a severe classification characterized by the presence of a major problem in the brain that can affect the mind, feelings, and behavior of individuals, thus encouraging criminal acts due to delusions and hallucinations. The most common symptoms of schizophrenia are excessive behavioral changes such as sudden anger and screaming, difficulty in thinking, hallucinations, and delusions. Research data shows that individuals with schizophrenia have a higher risk of committing criminal acts compared to the general population, making this the biggest challenge in the criminal justice system. This study aims to understand and analyze the role of forensic psychology in the approach to criminals with schizophrenic mental disorders. The method in this study uses literature studies by reviewing several relevant previous studies and various scientific journals. Forensic psychology not only plays a role in handling criminal cases in the trial process, but also provides appropriate psychological interventions and rehabilitation programs for perpetrators with schizophrenia to improve the mental well-being of perpetrators.
